Nice Boat, again

My second favourite Visual Novel series: What I call the "Days" series by 0verflow.

I could also call the series the "Radish" series, as "Snow Radish Vacation" and "Summer Radish Vacation" are the first games in the storyline, like I do with the KimiIta series, as Kimi ga Ita Kisetsu was the first in that, but I much prefer to call this one the "Days" series. Personal preference more than anything else, I suppose.

Anyway, Cross Days is set to be released soon!

I much prefer having Setsuna and Mikoto as the one true pairing, lol.

I kinda just want to talk about the Days series for a second. So, some of you might be quite familiar with the story 0verflow has laid out in the Days games. A common complaint about the character of Makoto is that he (depending on the choices the player makes, or, in the case of the anime adaptation, the choices he makes) is a heartless womanizer. Yeah, that's a pretty bad deal. But, the series gets a lot more messed up when you piece together the extended family tree of Makoto's grandfather and father. The Days games turn from being a series about a [potentially] womanizing playboy into being about an incestuous womanizing playboy. Basically everyone is closely related to everyone else through both Jou Inou (everyone's grandfather/great-grandfather) and Tomaru Sawagoe (Makoto's father, and most of the other characters' grandfather). I just find that funny. Tomaru basically populated Makoto's entire school with half-sisters, half-brothers, nieces, and nephews.

Finally, Cross Days is out. I went to get it when I was in Japan (March 17th). Going into a store full of eroge games was really awkward, and the game was really expensive - I dont understand why games are so much more expensive in Japan than outside of the country when you look at the exchange rate of currency. (I did also find Dies Irae Also Sprach Zarathustra in there! I'd been wanting a legal copy of that, but I didn't buy it this time - again, too expensive. I can always order it online or something whenever certain providers have it on sale.)

I've played Cross Days for a bit, and it has a surprisingly interesting concept of being sort of a midquel to School Days.

Bloody Misako Toona, the mother from 0verflow's "Lost M", appears in it. What a callback. Never thought I'd see that name again. So this means Lost M also takes place in the Days universe. Also, half the characters have names from the major Japanese clans during Japan's medieval eras. It's kinda cool. Makes sense, as Makoto, Sekai, and Kotonoha all get their surnames from the Meiji-era genrou.
