Inia Sestina on the cliff

Description

Now, I love Russians. I loved the Soviets (for historical interest, not at all for political idealism - Marxism is a scourge on humanity).

But I am not really sure if I like this character. I dont really care one way or the other about Cryska, at least. Character designs are great, but the personalities themselves dont really strike any notes with me.

Inia Sestina is a Soviet pilot and Alternative III subject from Muv Luv Total Eclipse, a side story to the main KimiIta series told in novel form. In the Unlimited/Alternative universes of the KimiIta series, the Soviet Union never fell, since the BETA invasion pretty much ended any cold war between the USSR and the rest of the world.

There's also a manga of Total Eclipse and a short visual novel that was an extra in Muv Luv Altered Fable. An anime for Total Eclipse is also in production and will be released sometime next year.

Inia is an okay character, but nothing too special, though that can be said for all the Total Eclipse characters. But I really like her pilot uniform (this is the first time I've tried drawing it.) The TE cast really doesn't hold a candle to the cast from the rest of the series.

As for Cryska, the other white-haired Soviet girl in Total Eclipse, I kind of find her aggravating, similar to my feelings on (and for similar reasons as) Prime-reality Meiya.

Oh, and Inia's not dead in this picture... Just... knocked out, I guess. I didn't really have a game plan when making this. It's not based on any particular scene from Total Eclips.

Those giant things in the background are aliens (BETA) called Gravis.
I guess I've never talked about this before, but "BETA" humourously stands for "Beings of Extra Terrestrial origin which is Adversary of human race."
Lovely Engrish. It could be so easily fixed with an "are", an "adversaries", and a "the".

The little things flying around the Fort-class are Senjutsuki (or TSFs) which are giant robots that humanity uses to fight the BETA, since the BETA are, for the most part, far larger than humans. This is the one time in fiction that giant robots actually kind of make sense. The TSFs are supposed to be able to move as fluidly as human bodies can, so their size makes them perfect for combating giant monsters. But, otherwise, unfortunately, giant robots really aren't feasible for real-world combat. How cool would that be, though?

The tower-esque thing way off in the background is a BETA hive which is essentially their one-way spaceship. It literally is shot through space to crash-land on whatever planet their "Creator" wants (so, billions of random planets).
